Writing

GamingTrend

I've written over 17,000 articles for GamingTrend (though many were lost in the transition to a new hosting platform), everything from news, reviews, and editorials. In my six years there, I've grown exponentially as both a writer and a critic. I started with surface level critiques, but have since moved on to looking at games much more closely, such as how they feel to play, the design of mechanics, enemies, and levels, and even the messages their stories convey.

CBR

While my time at CBR was brief, I wrote a ton and learned a lot about SEO. My job there was to write five video game listicles, or articles in the form of a numbered list, a week. While I found the format restrictive, I do some of my best work with constraints and always tried to make the topics interesting.

It was also a great opportunity to talk about more obscure titles, such as Racing Lagoon, in depth. I had little freedom to really analyze a game or offer my opinion, so it was an interesting creative exercise.

Creative Work

Outside of game journalism, I also love to write creatively - especially for games. You can read two samples I've wrote for games, one in a screenplay format, as well as the first chapter of a fantasy novel I'm writing with the links below.
